The short version

Life in the UK Prep has no accounts, ads, analytics or trackers. Your test results stay on your device, and so does your location if you choose to share it. The only personal information we receive is what you send us when you contact support.

The app

Your test results and any test in progress are saved only on your device, using the device’s own storage. They are never sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.

Location. To show the test centres nearest to you, the app can ask for your location. It’s used only on your phone, to sort the list of centres by distance, and is never sent to us or anyone else. You can say no and still browse every centre, and you can turn location off for the app in your phone’s settings at any time. On iPhone and iPad the centres map is drawn by Apple Maps, which loads map images for the area on screen; Apple’s privacy policy covers that.

App updates. When it opens, the app checks for small updates from Expo, the service it’s built with. Like any connection to a server, this shows Expo your device’s IP address, along with technical details such as the app version and whether it’s an iPhone or Android phone. Nothing else about you is sent. Expo’s privacy policy covers these checks.

Sharing a result. If you share a test result, the app makes a link to this website. The result is written into the link itself: your score, your scores by topic, the time you took, the date and the app’s language. It doesn’t include your name or anything else about you, and we don’t store shared results. Anyone who has the link can open the result, so share it only with people you’re happy to see it.

When you choose to open an official page from the app, such as GOV.UK or the test booking service, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

This website

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.

Contacting support. If you send a message through our support page, we receive your name, email address and message by email, together with the language of the page you used and the country your connection comes from. We use them only to reply to you and help with your question. Please don’t include sensitive details, such as immigration case information, in your message.

Children

Life in the UK Prep is designed for adults preparing for the Life in the UK test and doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone.
